The Springboro Performing Arts Center is showcasing the works of Cecilia Brendel through Nov. 23 in the gallery, 115 Wright Station Way. The show features oil works including large biblical pieces, paintings on copper panels, portraits and seasonal landscapes.
Born in St. Louis, Brendel was formally trained in technical illustration and graphic arts, but later switched to oil. Her paintings reflect this with a combination of fine details and representational elements. The owner of Olde Masters Galleria in Centerville, her love of fine details inspired Cecilia to create a series of miniature paintings which have been published in American Art Collector magazine as “One to Collect." These oil collectible miniature pendants are also on display.
The public is invited to meet the artist at a reception 4 - 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.
Gallery hours are 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday with some extended hours on evenings and weekends or by appointment by calling 937-748-5774. The show is free and open to the public.
