PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I
General Statement of Duties
This position is responsible for operating light and heavy specialized equipment; performing semi-skilled labor tasks in the maintenance of parks, roadway green space areas, well fields and other properties owned by the City. Position must also be able to support other City departments on an as needed basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Not All-Inclusive)
Operate trucks and trailers or light or heavy specialized equipment in all types of weather conditions, such as, but not limited to; pickup trucks, dump trucks, skid steer loader, backhoe, walking and zero turn mowers, weed eaters, snow plows, etc.
Performs semi-skilled and skilled manual labor tasks associated with maintenance of parks, public property, green space areas along roadways, roadway medians, including weeding, mowing grass, mulching, etc.
Performs cleaning and repair to park restroom facilities, emptying of trash and recycling receptacles.
Performs general maintenance of all park structures, including but not limited to; tennis courts, playground equipment, baseball diamonds, benches, bleachers, fences, walking trails, basketball courts, concessions stands, picnic shelters, etc.
Performs routine maintenance on all equipment and performs any minor repairs on machinery. Keeps equipment clean and in safe working order.
Assists other City departments when assigned, including but not limited to, snow plowing, water main breaks, traffic control, road repair, sign repair, building maintenance, general upkeep of the City.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Employee should have knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and materials used in the park maintenance field. Knowledge of park maintenance techniques, tools, equipment, horticultural tools, lawn chemicals, pesticides and fertilizers are required.
Must have the ability to communicate concisely and clearly with other City employees and the general public. Must have a knowledge of safety practices and procedures with the ability to carry out detailed but basic written and/or oral instruction and cooperate with co-workers on group projects. Must have ability to complete routine work forms.
Must demonstrate physical dexterity and skill to safely operate hand held and power tools, light and heavy specialized equipment and safely operate vehicles of many sizes. May be required to lift 30 lbs+/-, bend down, reach up, be on knees for extended period of time and be required to work outside in adverse weather conditions from time to time.
Will be required to operate a snow plow for an extended period of time during extreme weather events.
Will be required to work overtime on weekends and outside of normal working hours.
Acceptable Experience, Training and Additional Requirements:
Employee should have experience in one or more areas related to the position; including, but not limited to; general maintenance, horticulture related field, park and/or green space maintenance.
At a minimum, must possess a high school diploma (or equivalent).
Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a Class B CDL license within six (6) months of employment.
Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, a commitment to the overall mission of the City and a cost conscious approach to assigned tasks. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio’s Drivers license.

Seasonal Maintenance
The City of Springboro is currently seeking help within its Service Department for seasonal help. The interested person must be at least 18 years of age, and able to pass a drug test, background check, and basic physical. The position will be Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4 PM, and will start at $15 per hour. Apply online
