EAST PALESTINE TRAIN DERAILMENT - WATER QUALITY
We have received some phone calls about any effect the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio (over 200 miles away) may have on the City's water supply.
The City produces drinking water from wells along the Great Miami River. These aquifers are not impacted or threatened by the recent train derailment and subsequent chemical spill that occurred on February 3, 2023. The City conducts regular testing and meets all Ohio EPA
water quality standards required in our operating permit issued by the Ohio Environment Protection Agency.
