[ARCHIVED] Library and City BPAC partner on Cycling Speaker Series

The City of Springboro Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) in partnership with the Franklin-Springboro Public Library present: Bicycle Speaker Series. Open to all ages unless otherwise indicated. Registration not required, first-come-first-served seating. All programs are free and presented at the Springboro Library, 125 Park Lane.


  • January 8: “The John Muir Trail—The Most Beautiful Trail in America”: 7- 8 p.m. 
    • Andy “Captain Blue” Niekamp shares stories of his 2018 hike in California’s 211-mile John Muir Trail from Yosemite National Park to Mount Whitney. Ages 16 and up.
  • February 5: “Bike Across America”: 6:30-7:30 p.m. 
    • Kettering resident Earl McDaniel cycled 3,642 miles in 38 days while traveling through 18 states to cross the United States on bicycle. Ages 16 and up. 
  • February 11: “Rails-to-Trails Conservancy”: 7-8 p.m.
    • Eric Oberg, Director of Trail Development, Midwest Regional Office of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, tells how it all started, what’s happening now and plans for the future.
  • February 19: “Bicycle Maintenance”: 6:30-7:30 p.m.
    • Bring your bicycle and join Otto Bohn, owner of Spoken Bicycles in Middletown, for a hands-on basic bicycle repair workshop. Ages 16 and up.
